FYI.... Its All Over!

Okay ... Just to let you know so this doesn't get confusing... I write my posts on my lap top in my room so I can write in the comfort of my bed rather then the cold office down
stairs. The only problem is that my lap top doesn't have internet so I have to use my trusty USB cruiser to transfer my posts from my lap top to the office computer. So sometimes there is a bit (okay.. A lot) of delay in when I write it and when I post it... So the date lies and some things change. For example... No longer vacation week and PR is over. Hey things change fast and I am lazy.. So sorry... Next time I will be better.

to elaborate of Project Runway... Chloe won but they all rocked.. I couldn't have made that decision!!! I want to show you some of my Fav designs from the finale

Shopping Excursions

Ahh... what a vacation week. No school, no rules! Well not exactly. I didn't go any where exotic but stayed in the NH-MA area. Besides just lounging around and watching Dawson's Creek episodes I went on a few glorious shopping excursions... and despite my lack of cash they were really successful.

The first was a fun road trip with my best friend up to Portsmouth NH. Their downtown area is full of cute little boutiques and record stores. We went through racks of expensive prom dresses at Farah's Special Occasions Boutique ( I loved saying that name! it sounds like mine but with a thick lisp!) and pranced around as Farah herself gave us the evil eye. Then we headed across the street to a cute second hand shop... it was called Second Time Around I think, and we witnessed a flamboyantly gay man buy an extremely feminine patterned shirt. Then we went to a skate shop next door called Identity where the incredibly cute staff helped my friend pick out a few presents for her boyfriend's birthday. We stopped by a huge independent Music store... I forget the name but they had every genre you could think of, plus a great used section. It was full of adorable rockers browsing the shelves and arguing over vinyl purchases. Next we stopped for a quick Photo opt (my friend is a photographer wannabe, she is quite good I might say) by an adorable London-esque telephone booth. Then we escaped the bitter cold to pop into a cute pizza parlor where the sort of creepy guy behind the counter bought a whole pizza so we could just buy by the slice! It was good though. Then the trip was complete with the drive home listening to the Rent soundtrack and hits of the summer past!!

My other trip was with my Mom and my Aunts up to The Wrentham Premium Outlets . If you love shopping this place is HEAVEN!! Let me just give you the list of some of the amazing stores selling racks and racks of half price items. Banana Republic, Barneys New York, Burberry, Calvin Klein, DKNY, Gap, Guess, J.Crew, Lacoste, Levi's, Saks off Fifth avenue, Pac Sun, Ralph Lauren, Puma, Tommy Hilfiger. Plus the accessories stores like... Aldo, Birkenstock, Journeys, Kenneth Cole, Reebok, Vans, Coach, Fossil and lots of other home, gift and music store. Don't the names just make you drool? The whole set up is just like a huge outdoor mall. Though it was very cold it is a bit refreshing to bundle up in your cutest scarves, boots, and mittens as you run around and stare at the gorgeous clothes (even though I couldn't even buy the half price versions.) I did end up buying a $40 pair of Van's slip-ons for $20!! Which I am LOVING!! If you live near or might be passing through the Wrentham MA area I would suggest that you set a day aside to explore this magical place!! You and your wallets will thank me!!

A vacation is gone again and school awaits tomorrow. A better pick a killer outfit incase they forgot how awesome I was after a weeks break!!!!

Project Runway is my Future

We are here today to talk about my love of Project Runway. If you don't know what I am talking about I suggest introduce yourself to this amazing show. Reality TV+ Fashion= Project Runway (PR for short). Quick summary for those of you who don't yet know of its wonders. PR is on Bravo on Wednesdays at 10:00 eastern standard (right after Lost's time slot on ABC so you can watch both!). It is a bunch of semi-amateur designers and they are given all these wicked cool (that's new England talking for ya) design challenges and after they (sometimes) finish them they have a Runway show and then Heidi Klum and Michael Kors decide whether they are in or out. Okay I really suck at explaining... So I suggest you go watch the show... They have marathons all the time! But the Season 2 finale is coming up soon and I am so excited! Will it be Santino, Chloe or Daniel? No one knows!! If you didn't watch last year (Jay Won!!), for the finale they all have their own collection for the runway for Fashion Week. It is such a cool show. I wish i could be on it.

SarahLovesNordstrom

So i just got some Nordstrom catologs in the mail. You see NH is Nordstrom-less (tear, tear) so i have to do without it until i visit in NY or CT. My Grandmother knows how much I love their stores so she always forwards her catologs to me. I just got the January and Febuary ones... and bye golly i am so excited, they have EVERYTHING there! If I was rich (which i am not) i think i would buy the whole store!! so I am gonna go do an overview of all my fav stuff do you guys can get as excited as i am.... Spring Clothes Fever!!

The January one, not liking the clothes as much as the Febuary (crocet is not my thing... a little too hippyish for my taste... and that is saying something!) but the acessories made me swoon! There is this one bag (Francesco Biasia, $388) that was white (they called it "chalk") and woven and studded with bunches of buckles. it is so beautiful! this woven thing is really in... lots of bags and belts. Also Michael Kors, my favorite PR Judge (Project Runway... Duh!), has this gorgeous woven shoe colection. The sandles are to die for.. they are last years gladiators! Some have Berkinstock-ish vibe but they are definatly a classic. There is this other Kate Spade Purse.... OMG!! Sorry I don't want to be so cliche using that 6th grade IM term, but still... it deserves that excitement. It is structured with this perfecly graphic flower print (not too 60's... just right!...how goldilocks of me) with her usual perfectly weatherd leather accents, in red. If i had $395 i'd buy it! But the Sunglasses!! there was an oversize aviator Marc Jacobs one too that makes me melt.

The Febuary one had so much cute stuff. i just want to say... that i love Chloe. her stuff is so adorable and she has the cutest name (i am so naming my kid that!). There was also this Diane Von Furstenberg chiffon blouse with large poka dots that i loved. Ohhh and there is this Betsey Johnson wester inspired messenger bag that if i had $325 i would use as a back pack!

Okay that is enough of me whining about all the stuff i can't afford until i get famous (a dream... in the distance) so i will stop now. Hopefully you got a little excited like i did... but maybe you need the visual thing. Click on my designer links to actually see the things i am gushing about... plus more!

Obsessions Pt. 2

Okay another thing you might have found out about me that I have A LOT of obsessions. Like numerous weekly. Another thing about me is that I love sharing my new obsessions with everyone I know.

Lately I have been really into classic books. I mean I used to read all the girly romantic novels (Confessions of a Shopaholic...My life story!) and teen books but I really wanted something with more substance. So I started reading Oliver Twist... A famous book by Charles Dickens (also known for the movie interpretation). It is tough to read but you really feel like you are gaining something. It felt great to see some of my actual SAT vocab words in context.... Something that would have NEVER happen in my girly teen books. And books like this can actually be inspirational... Just reading about old London and little poor boys in knickers makes me want to design a whole Oliver Twist based collection!!! Another plus with a classic is that you aren't embarrassed to read it in public... You get more respect too when people know you actually are reading a book like that just for the heck of it. So I am excited now... I have a huge list I want to conquer next.... The Great Gatsby ( the 20's were roaring!), Pride and prejudice (because I LOVED the movie so much), Little Women, The Jungle (hopefully I won't have to give up hamburgers after this), Gone with the Wind and whatever I can get my hands on at the library.

My other new obsession is old photographs. I don't mean pictures from when I was seven... I mean crackled, and faded black and white or sepia toned pictures. I love pictures of peoples in the 50's and before. They all have such class. My new idea is to get a bunch of really cool old photographs and to buy a bunch of cheap T-Shirts and iron on transfer sheet to make cool shirts with the pictures on it... Wouldn't you wear that? It's my vision I guess.

my new best friend... My USB cruiser! I was forced to buy one this summer when I was taking a few classes at the Fashion Institute of technology in NYC. I really didn't get it then but now I realize it is really a revolt against the constantly annoying floppy disc! I go from one computer to the next with ease!! BUY ONE NOW!

okay last obsession for today.... The cooking channel. It is inspiring. It makes me want to actually cook or bake something creative. Sure I am all for cookie dough in a tube... And even cookie dough pre separated into little circles but sometimes when Emeril makes a double chocolate brownies with homemade French vanilla whipped cream I wonder whether my cooking short cuts are really up to par?

Death Cab is the new Miracle Drug

Ever have a bad day? Of course you have, just everything goes wrong and you don't no what to do with your self. I have a cure for bad day depression; Death Cab for Cutie is my cure. The music is mellow but the lyrics are vibrant and meaningful. It is my poetry, personal but so relatable. It is like a beautiful novel with sweet words and a beat that makes you want to sway. My brother claims all their songs sound the same but the problem is he really doesn't listen. He is so used to flat lyrics, they hold some meaning but they have no depth. The sound weighs above the words. With Death Cab, the two are equals, nether are overpowering the other, complimenting each ones strengths which is how I think real music should be. So I suggest you go onto ITunes and download them next time you are having one of those days, you will thank me.

The new stuff is good... more melodic but really good. I really love the new single "Crooked Teeth" but "What Sarah Said".... another song from their new CD Plans makes me cry every time I hear it. I am not sure if my sadness is greater because my name is in it or if the lyrics are the sole contributor, but you can check it out for yourself. For the old stuff... which I prefer on bad days, I am not sure if I could pick a favorite.... there is the more popular Sound of the Settling or one of my favorites, the Passengers Seat, or Transatlanticism... don't make me pick... I could go on and on. But let me warn you. Death Cab gets better with time. At first you won't be that into it...it is just because you aren't used to lyrics this deep... after a little bit, once you learn to really listen, it will rock your world, I guarantee it!

And remember....

You can’t find nothing at all if there was nothing there all along
