(Hopefully) everyday I will try to post a really cool website and/or blog that I want people to check out. Just some fun for the whole fam.

Okay… today’s Blog is a random one I found clicking the handy “Next Blog” button… which will probably be how I will find most of these. It is called Someone’s In the Kitchen and it is basically a recipe book gone high tech. It is filled with cool recipes to try from a lady named Amanda in Canada. I am a big cooking advocate, basically since the takeover of American TV to the food network so I think I might try a few of her cookie recipes for the holidays. Also if you aren’t a typical cooker I suggest you start. Cooking is a major stress reliever and just plain old fun! I love getting together with friends and family and just baking or cooking. It will also reduce the cash problems created by constant takeout! I am not saying you have to take one of these recipes but you can always go to the generic Recipes.com or watch the Food Network (30 min Meals with Rachel Ray, as cliché as it is, is my fav). I also applaud Amanda for the idea of going digital with her recipe book. It is a pretty smart one that I just might consider :)

This website is her basically for laughs. It is called Overheard in New York and is basically a place where New Yorkers post random tidbits of weird conversations they have over heard around the city. It was one of Time Magazines coolest sites in 2005 and I can see why. Here is an example of what’s on the site

Hipster chick: I'd like to get my eyebrows done.
Korean woman: You have boyfriend?
Hipster chick: Uh... no.
Woman: No wonder. You have hairy upper lip.
Hipster chick: Okay...
Woman: No worry -- we clean up -- you have many boyfriend.
--Beauty parlor on W 8th St

Priceless right!!?? That’s why I love New York… you get to year crazy stuff everyday

*** FYI If anyone wants to share a blog or a website I would love to check it put and mention it!! Comment or email me
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

+ 44

When I first heard +44 I was rocking out in my car to FNX, my fav radio station. It was their single When Your Heart Stops Beating and I have to admit I didn’t know. This new band actually includes Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker from Blink 182. It seems that the whole band that had produced the peppy punk rock we have come to know and love through out childhood is splitting up and doing their own thing (for the time being). First it was the fantastic Angels and Airwaves fronted by Tom Delonge the unmistakable voice of Blink 182 and now it is +44. I recommend visiting their website to listen to When Your Heart Stops Beating ASAP! It is a great song, one that if you hear once, you will have it in your head all day. I’d buy the CD now before they sell out to MTV (they were sadly on TRL today) so you can say you were into them before all the rage occurred!

"I'll be there when your heart stops beating
I'll be there when your last breath's taken away
In the dark, When there's no-one listening
In the times when we both get carried away"
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

New Font, New FashionOutcast

So… If for some strange reason you have been following this blog (which I am pretty sure no one is due to my lack of comments) I am sorry because I am turning the whole thing around basically because this thing is sucking.

The term FashionOutcast was created by me in the creation of this blog. Now it is sort of my little known trademark, alter ego if you would. My email, SN, and a lot of other things are being inspired by this one term but the one thing I created it for is slacking! FashionOutcast is just a person whose fashion choices (or all choices for that matter) set them apart from others making them a bit of an outcast. The point of this blog in the beginning was to branch out to others who share this same disability (if you could call it that) and teach them that it is cool to break the mold. Whether it is fashion or music or anything really I believe people need to experience everything and judge for themselves what they think is cool, not what your friends or MTV does.

Now I think I am going to continue with that original mission statement and try to branch out to as many people as I can. This is a judgment free place. Sure this started out with fashion but I think I am going to turn this into a blog of knowledge. Things I think are cool, things you think are cool, just a giant exchange of ideas. Websites, blogs, clothes, designers, music, art, movies, tv, anything that inspires me that I think would inspire my audience I will post. I want people to comment and share. Email me at FashionOutcast@hotmail.com if you have anything you want me to mention or check out.

If you come across this blog by accident or find it on a link randomly I urge you to book mark it. Life is about experiencing things and discovering things. Here is an opportunity to do so and I urge you to take the chance because life is to short to second guess yourself.
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

News

Yay... They cinch in all the right places and make you gorgeously skinny and it gives you that cute tom boy feel which is really nice! bright colors are good but a small collection of some classic colors like maybe navy, black, and white would definatly be a good investment. I would style them with bright t-shirts underneath or even in a warmer climate you can go with a tank to which can look really sexy if played right. so i suggest you go grab a few in a bunch of colors and start layering!! you will love how thin you look!!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

okay... okay

Okay.... so I am a bad blogger... I get it. I suck.... I went like the whole summer with out a word! but I will make it up to you all this year... i promise!

Soo.... school is starting again and Fall is here! I LOVE fall! I know I say that about everything but fall in my town.... it is picturesque! I am really excited to wear my goodwill london fog trench find from the begining of the summer as well as taking out my box of scarves. ahhh.... well speaking of goodwill and second hand stores.... i think i have a problem.... i am obsessed. People think it is gross but i think an article of clothing, a piece of jewelry or even a hand bag with a bit of history is amazingly cool. I went there the other day and I got a gorgeously worn out leather Perry Ellis messenger like mini briefcase bag. it is so cute and it was like 2.30. then for 59 cents each i got a really pretty and dramatic clip on bow for my hair.... it is like silvery gray and really adorable and i got a long strand of royal blue plastic beads that are and amazing color. I can't wait to go pack when i get more cash. Anyone have any really good goodwill finds??? TELL ME!!! Let me bask in your glory! ohhh and i have a screen name now... it is Fashionoutcast.... so if you have any questions or suggestions or just wanna say hi you can reach me there! i will post better soon!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Holy Bejesus!

Do you smell that...?? It is the most beautiful object I have ever laid my eyes on. Being a design person myself, many of my decisions in life are based on beauty. Of course that is only for shopping purchases like pretty perfume bottles and pink cell phones and things like that, not with guys and friends and stuff (I'm not THAT superficial!) So anyway... When I was in Staples picking out my camera I was simply drawn to My 5.0 mega pixel Kodak Easy Share V550 but not out of the fact is has a great zoom or how easy it is to use, I loved it because it was black, little and had a giant screen! The semi-cute staples guy kept on showing me all these other silver cameras and telling me all these superior facts about their memory and what not and all I said was.... "I really want the black one.. It's pretty!" He was kinda laughing at me at that point, after realizing I couldn't be persuaded. It was love at first sight.... What can I say! Well despite my unrational decision, this camera is really amazing on every level... Not just looks and design (all though it really is top notch!!) So I guess in some cases it pays to be superficial... That is the lesson learned.
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Playing Dress Up

Do you ever have this sudden urge to go somewhere you have never been or like escape on some random road trip or something?? thats what I have the feeling for right now!! I want to get all dressed up like i have some where to be, and drive off into the mist off to some random town and go exploring!! doesn't that sound fun?? But i am stuck here on this gloreous mothers day... dreaming of sunshine! (it has been downpouring for 3 days straight... major flooding everywhere... the whole 9 yards). Of course i got all dressed up anyways. There is something about getting dressed up.. eventhough no one really important is going to see you that make you feel good.. you know?? I do it all the time.

I am one of those people who would wear fancy shoes and a full skirt to school and no one would think anything of it! They have all grown a tolerence to me dressing up.. or down whenever i damn right please which i like. It has taken a while for me to build this up so i am quite proud of myself if this makes any sense. You see... there are people in this world who will wear a skirt or dress only about twice a year... so when they wear it people think... she looks out of place. But if people notice that you wear them all the time than it is different... you can dress up anytime you want and no one will think you look weird! It is a perfect situation really but it is hard to start up with out looking stupid.

You see... at least with high school... if someone who rarely wore skirts started wearing them all the time randomly people would talk. It would look like they just won some shopping spree or something and got a whole wardrobe makeover and people would probly make fun of you... it is cruel but thats high school. If you really want to make the transition you have to do it at the begining of the year or at the begining of a season change. Just do it slowly... start with one a week... then two.. then you can go up to every other day... or whenever you feel like it. i suggest you try it!! and you can get that little "all dressed up buzz" all the time!! good luck
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Goodwill

I have to say... even though alot of people find it gross... that i love the Goodwill. Some stores are better than others but they always have something. Maybe it's my obsession with anything old or maybe it is my eye for finding purposes in purpose less items but i could really live in Goodwill. If you know what to look for that place is amazing. I bought a gorgeous vintage London Fog trench there for $5. Now a days London Fog sells the coats in their new coat collection for over $1,000!! It is in perfect condition too! I also found this beautiful hand crocheted blanket in rainbow colors and completely one of a kind for only$5. I just want to eliminate the gross rumors and let everyone know that if you know where to dig... Goodwill is full of hidden gems just waiting to be cherished!!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Oh My Goodness

So many cool things are happening!!

1. I have been very busy so I have not been able to write much lately. I Just got back from Florida on Spring Break. I went to Disney World with my school band and had a blast. I went to Epcot and got a henna tattoo in morocoo that is SOOOO cool looking. It is like this ethnic-y morocan design and it looks amazing on my ankle. The best part was that I got a GREAT tan and I got to wear all my old halter tops that i haven't worn in ages, the new shorts and capris I bought at H&M for really cheap, and my new Old Navy Flip flops (2 for $5!! and in MY SIZE!! I got 4 and I am definately going back for more!). Lets just say it was a satisfying trip.

The real reason for this post was to share with you all my new favorite poem. I have to do a report on Allen Ginsburg for my AP American Heritage class and I was looking through his stuff online while I was in the library and came across this and fell in LOVE!!

An Eastern Ballad

I speak of love that comes to mind:
The moon is faithful, although blind;
She moves in thought she cannot speak.
Perfect care has made her bleak.
I never dreamed the sea so deep,
The earth so dark; so long my sleep,
I have become another child.
I wake to see the world go wild.
by Allen Ginsberg

Isn't it Beautiful??? So you see this cool dude Andrew left a comment on my blog about his new website and asking if maybe I could check it out and write a bit about it... so i went there (www.lookify.com) and i have to say it is a pretty neat place. the whole concept of the site is fashion based (which I love) and is even a bit magazine like (which i love even more). You see, you go and start your own little blog like profile on their site and you get to post cool fashion related pictures that you like from either your computer or online and other memebers get to comment on the stuff. It is a great way to spread ideas and trends via the internet. I applaud Andrew and his pals for a job well done and suggest you go check it out for yourself to see what all the fuss is about!! My "Look Book"... as they call it can be found at the following website if you want to check out some of my fav stuff!! http://www.lookify.com/book/show/761. I hope you have fun with this site... i thought it was totaly cool!!
*** Sorry that i overused the word cool in this review... but really there is no other way to describe it!!!!**

By the way... if any other readers have a site or blog that is either Fashion, Music, or Beauty related i would LOVE to check it out and write a bit about it here on my blog!! just post a comment and i will take a look!!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

FYI.... Its All Over!

Okay ... Just to let you know so this doesn't get confusing... I write my posts on my lap top in my room so I can write in the comfort of my bed rather then the cold office down
stairs. The only problem is that my lap top doesn't have internet so I have to use my trusty USB cruiser to transfer my posts from my lap top to the office computer. So sometimes there is a bit (okay.. A lot) of delay in when I write it and when I post it... So the date lies and some things change. For example... No longer vacation week and PR is over. Hey things change fast and I am lazy.. No school, no rules! Well not exactly. I didn't go any where exotic but stayed in the NH-MA area. Besides just lounging around and watching Dawson's Creek episodes I went on a few glorious shopping excursions... and despite my lack of cash they were really successful.

The first was a fun road trip with my best friend up to Portsmouth NH. Their downtown area is full of cute little boutiques and record stores. We went through racks of expensive prom dresses at Farah's Special Occasions Boutique ( I loved saying that name! it sounds like mine but with a thick lisp!) and pranced around as Farah herself gave us the evil eye. Then we headed across the street to a cute second hand shop... it was called Second Time Around I think, and we witnessed a flamboyantly gay man buy an extremely feminine patterned shirt. Then we went to a skate shop next door called Identity where the incredibly cute staff helped my friend pick out a few presents for her boyfriend's birthday. We stopped by a huge independent Music store... I forget the name but they had every genre you could think of, plus a great used section. It was full of adorable rockers browsing the shelves and arguing over vinyl purchases. Next we stopped for a quick Photo opt (my friend is a photographer wannabe, she is quite good I might say) by an adorable London-esque telephone booth. Then we escaped the bitter cold to pop into a cute pizza parlor where the sort of creepy guy behind the counter bought a whole pizza so we could just buy by the slice! It was good though. Then the trip was complete with the drive home listening to the Rent soundtrack and hits of the summer past!!

My other trip was with my Mom and my Aunts up to The Wrentham Premium Outlets . If you love shopping this place is HEAVEN!! Let me just give you the list of some of the amazing stores selling racks and racks of half price items. Banana Republic, Barneys New York, Burberry, Calvin Klein, DKNY, Gap, Guess, J.Crew, Lacoste, Levi's, Saks off Fifth avenue, Pac Sun, Ralph Lauren, Puma, Tommy Hilfiger. Plus the accessories stores like... Aldo, Birkenstock, Journeys, Kenneth Cole, Reebok, Vans, Coach, Fossil and lots of other home, gift and music store. Don't the names just make you drool? The whole set up is just like a huge outdoor mall. Though it was very cold it is a bit refreshing to bundle up in your cutest scarves, boots, and mittens as you run around and stare at the gorgeous clothes (even though I couldn't even buy the half price versions.) I did end up buying a $40 pair of Van's slip-ons for $20!! Which I am LOVING!! If you live near or might be passing through the Wrentham MA area I would suggest that you set a day aside to explore this magical place!! You and your wallets will thank me!!

A vacation is gone again and school awaits tomorrow. A better pick a killer outfit incase they forgot how awesome I was after a weeks break!!!!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Project Runway is my Future

We are here today to talk about my love of Project Runway. If you don't know what I am talking about I suggest introduce yourself to this amazing show. Reality TV+ Fashion= Project Runway (PR for short). Quick summary for those of you who don't yet know of its wonders. PR is on Bravo on Wednesdays at 10:00 eastern standard (right after Lost's time slot on ABC so you can watch both!). It is a bunch of semi-amateur designers and they are given all these wicked cool (that's new England talking for ya) design challenges and after they (sometimes) finish them they have a Runway show and then Heidi Klum and Michael Kors decide whether they are in or out. Okay I really suck at explaining... So I suggest you go watch the show... They have marathons all the time! But the Season 2 finale is coming up soon and I am so excited! Will it be Santino, Chloe or Daniel? No one knows!! If you didn't watch last year (Jay Won!!), for the finale they all have their own collection for the runway for Fashion Week. It is such a cool show. I wish i could be on it.
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

SarahLovesNordstrom

So i just got some Nordstrom catologs in the mail. You see NH is Nordstrom-less (tear, tear) so i have to do without it until i visit in NY or CT. My Grandmother knows how much I love their stores so she always forwards her catologs to me. I just got the January and Febuary ones... and bye golly i am so excited, they have EVERYTHING there! If I was rich (which i am not) i think i would buy the whole store!! so I am gonna go do an overview of all my fav stuff do you guys can get as excited as i am.... Spring Clothes Fever!!

The January one, not liking the clothes as much as the Febuary (crocet is not my thing... a little too hippyish for my taste... and that is saying something!) but the acessories made me swoon! There is this one bag (Francesco Biasia, $388) that was white (they called it "chalk") and woven and studded with bunches of buckles. it is so beautiful! this woven thing is really in... lots of bags and belts. Also Michael Kors, my favorite PR Judge (Project Runway... Duh!), has this gorgeous woven shoe colection. The sandles are to die for.. they are last years gladiators! Some have Berkinstock-ish vibe but they are definatly a classic. There is this other Kate Spade Purse.... OMG!! Sorry I don't want to be so cliche using that 6th grade IM term, but still... it deserves that excitement. It is structured with this perfecly graphic flower print (not too 60's... just right!...how goldilocks of me) with her usual perfectly weatherd leather accents, in red. If i had $395 i'd buy it! But the Sunglasses!! there was an oversize aviator Marc Jacobs one too that makes me melt.

The Febuary one had so much cute stuff. i just want to say... that i love Chloe. her stuff is so adorable and she has the cutest name (i am so naming my kid that!). There was also this Diane Von Furstenberg chiffon blouse with large poka dots that i loved. Ohhh and there is this Betsey Johnson wester inspired messenger bag that if i had $325 i would use as a back pack!

Okay that is enough of me whining about all the stuff i can't afford until i get famous (a dream... in the distance) so i will stop now. Hopefully you got a little excited like i did... but maybe you need the visual thing. Click on my designer links to actually see the things i am gushing about... plus more!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Obsessions Pt. 2

Okay another thing you might have found out about me that I have A LOT of obsessions. Like numerous weekly. Another thing about me is that I love sharing my new obsessions with everyone I know.

Lately I have been really into classic books. I mean I used to read all the girly romantic novels (Confessions of a Shopaholic...My life story!) and teen books but I really wanted something with more substance. So I started reading Oliver Twist... A famous book by Charles Dickens (also known for the movie interpretation). It is tough to read but you really feel like you are gaining something. It felt great to see some of my actual SAT vocab words in context.... Something that would have NEVER happen in my girly teen books. And books like this can actually be inspirational... Just reading about old London and little poor boys in knickers makes me want to design a whole Oliver Twist based collection!!! Another plus with a classic is that you aren't embarrassed to read it in public... You get more respect too when people know you actually are reading a book like that just for the heck of it. So I am excited now... I have a huge list I want to conquer next.... The Great Gatsby ( the 20's were roaring!), Pride and prejudice (because I LOVED the movie so much), Little Women, The Jungle (hopefully I won't have to give up hamburgers after this), Gone with the Wind and whatever I can get my hands on at the library.

My other new obsession is old photographs. I don't mean pictures from when I was seven... I mean crackled, and faded black and white or sepia toned pictures. I love pictures of peoples in the 50's and before. They all have such class. My new idea is to get a bunch of really cool old photographs and to buy a bunch of cheap T-Shirts and iron on transfer sheet to make cool shirts with the pictures on it... Wouldn't you wear that? It's my vision I guess.

my new best friend... My USB cruiser! I was forced to buy one this summer when I was taking a few classes at the Fashion Institute of technology in NYC. I really didn't get it then but now I realize it is really a revolt against the constantly annoying floppy disc! I go from one computer to the next with ease!! BUY ONE NOW!

okay last obsession for today.... The cooking channel. It is inspiring. It makes me want to actually cook or bake something creative. Sure I am all for cookie dough in a tube... And even cookie dough pre separated into little circles but sometimes when Emeril makes a double chocolate brownies with homemade French vanilla whipped cream I wonder whether my cooking short cuts are really up to par?
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Death Cab is the new Miracle Drug

Ever have a bad day? Of course you have, just everything goes wrong and you don't no what to do with your self. I have a cure for bad day depression; Death Cab for Cutie is my cure. The music is mellow but the lyrics are vibrant and meaningful. It is my poetry, personal but so relatable. It is like a beautiful novel with sweet words and a beat that makes you want to sway. My brother claims all their songs sound the same but the problem is he really doesn't listen. He is so used to flat lyrics, they hold some meaning but they have no depth. The sound weighs above the words. With Death Cab, the two are equals, nether are overpowering the other, complimenting each ones strengths which is how I think real music should be. So I suggest you go onto ITunes and download them next time you are having one of those days, you will thank me.

The new stuff is good... more melodic but really good. I really love the new single "Crooked Teeth" but "What Sarah Said".... another song from their new CD Plans makes me cry every time I hear it. I am not sure if my sadness is greater because my name is in it or if the lyrics are the sole contributor, but you can check it out for yourself. For the old stuff... which I prefer on bad days, I am not sure if I could pick a favorite.... there is the more popular Sound of the Settling or one of my favorites, the Passengers Seat, or Transatlanticism... don't make me pick... I could go on and on. But let me warn you. Death Cab gets better with time. At first you won't be that into it...it is just because you aren't used to lyrics this deep... after a little bit, once you learn to really listen, it will rock your world, I guarantee it!

And remember....

You can’t find nothing at all if there was nothing there all along
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Snow and Wardrobe Dreams

Ahh... New Hampshire. One minute, all the snow is gone and you trade in your thick (yet stylish) coat for a cute impractical number than the next minute Mother Nature slams 8 inches back on you! Time to get my thick scarves and mittens out again! I don't know what it would be like to live in a place with out real full-out seasons like we have over here. My favorite thing about New Hampshire is the seasons... and the fashion that goes along with them! In places like Florida and California you can wear basically the same wardrobe all year round (if you wanted to!) but around here there is a need... for practical purposes to take out your winter or summer things... drastically changing your wardrobe. It is so much fun to welcome back my beautiful tank tops that (for arguments sake) was locked away all winter!!! Also how can people in Florida LIVE with out the possibility of a snow day!! That’s the best part about New England. Keep you fingers crossed for tomorrow!!

Anyways enough about the weather. I have been so bored with my wardrobe lately!! If I wasn't so poor and jobless maybe I could afford a shopping spree at my favorite store.... well my favorite affordable store. God knows I would love a full Marc by Marc Jacobs wardrobe but High School students (unless the parents are extremely generous) usually aren't exactly rolling in the Benjamin’s. I can't even afford The Gap lately (home of my favorite jean... the long and lean!). But my secret spot for a whole knew wardrobe for 30 bucks is TJ Maxx... the miracle store. Their sale rack is my home! I rotate between TJ's and Marshall’s... depending on which one has the best selections (they are basically the same store)... lately it has been TJ's. They are both less then 5 mins from my house... a short drive for some instant retail therapy (my favorite kind!). I buy almost everything there... purses, perfume, wallets, glasses cases, gloves, hats, scarves, watches, tights, coats, shoes, belts... a lot of my accessories as you can see... but also I buy shirts, skirts, dresses and sweaters sometimes pants but very rarely (these kinda places and my thighs are heard to get the fit right if you know what I mean!!). I bought a bra there once too... but it was because I was stranded in the middle of Connecticut in the summer with out a strapless... 80 degrees and no thin tank tops?? I don't think so! Anyways... I love the place... it's the thrill of the hunt that gets me going! Finding amazing stuff for half the cost is what keeps me going! I have found so many treasures there... the place makes dreams come true. Once I found a pair of camouflage converse there for $5, Versace perfume for $20, a beautiful Kenneth Cole reaction watch for $30, the dress of my dreams for my uncles wedding for $20, a leather messenger bag for $30, two beautiful silk Liz Claiborne skirts for $10 each, plus SO much more. If you have never been there... I suggest you take a visit! You will look like a million bucks for $30!

Oh... by the way... i might have went a bit link crazy! but i think if for some reason some poor soul reads this and wonders... what exactly is marc by marc jacobs they will be one click away from beautiful fashion bliss... instead of having to go through all the time in googling it!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Classic Rock?

So I was reading the new Rolling Stone this morning (another on the HUGE list of magazines I read) and they had this article about young America’s obsession with classic rock. It is very interesting how teens are turning to the greats of the past. The trend is extremely apparent in my school by the Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin T-shirts flooding the hallways. Do I support this? Well yes and no. I respect all music. I play a few instruments and know a lot of kids who play or sing and I know how hard it is to create any music at all. I am open to any type of music, and am made fun of by my brother (a classics fan) constantly because of my fondness of all genres (some more than others though). When it comes to classic rock I am a little undecided. I mean I have MAJOR respect to the artists or anyone for that matter who plays the guitar. It is a really hard instrument to play (I have tried... and failed) especially if you rock as hard as Jimi Hendrix, Guitar Legend! But when it comes to the sound of the music I am not as enthused as some. A few songs here and there I really like (Harder rock like, Jimi Hendrix-Fire, Pink Floyd-Young Lust, then folksier rock like some Neil Young and The Band etc.). Stuff like that is really what I consider classic rock. I think just because it isn't called classic rock it doesn't mean it isn't classic, if you get what I am saying. Some of my favorite older bands like the Beatles, The Clash, Ramones, The Cure, Nirvana etc., I really don't consider classic rock... maybe the Beatles but still... I don't think they belong in the same category as Jimi Hendrix. Sure they are all extremely CLASSIC bands that will never be un-popular but they don't belong together. So to answer my own question... I enjoy my kinda classic rather than my brothers.

Oh, is it just me or is the boy who ONLY likes Classic rock thing getting old...respect the classics by supporting the new comers who where influenced by your fav classic.
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Spring Trends

I accept the place that trends have in fashion. They keep it fun and interesting so we don't get completely bored, Right? Even though I find it wrong to indulge fully in the latest trends it is good to mix a few into an otherwise classic wardrobe. Most trends I agree with but everyone in a while there is one that leaves me puzzled. The latest trend that has even (gasp!) spread to my not-so-fashion-forward school just drives me crazy. Leggings. I know I know.... THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!! But come on, are all the amazing fashion icons of the world SOOO out of game that they are already turning to this 80's trend? America just started to forgive themselves for the MANY fashion mistakes of the 80's (big hair, off the shoulder sweatshirts, leg warmers etc.) do we really need to re-introduce this trend so early in the cycle? Maybe it is just me and my crazy mind but I would LOVE to stick to tights! Cure your leggings fix with a cute opaque pair extending ALL THE WAY to the toes! My conclusion: Black tights are HOT; Black Leggings are NOT! Thank you very much!!!

Now for some trends I actually support....

Sneakers with Dresses and Skirts- FINALLY my favorite combo ever is now supported in New York Fashion Week! Ever since Mischa Barton's Ked Campaign started we have all had sneakers on the brain. Though I have always favored the slightly punky Converse All-Star.... Ked's cute but simple designs look gorgeous with dresses and skirts alike! If you try this trend and some snob tells you that you are not allowed to wear sneakers with skirts, send them to me.... I will put 'em in their place!

Lace- Pretty, frilly, girly and gorgeously Victorian. Lace is to die for, makes even the biggest tom boys feel like radiant damsels in distress! The more vintage the better... because the older it is... the cooler it is, that’s how I roll!

Vests- Ahh, men’s wear is crossing over into women’s and I am living every minute of it. Take a tip from the beautiful Sienna Miller and wear these babies over everything. POW... instant figure! ? It is like a less slutty corset. My favorite with colorful T-Shirts and Jewelry.

Tulip skirts- I LOVE this shape. I honestly had never really seen anything like this until recently. It is so lady like with the beautiful gathering at the top... aww I can't stop gushing about them.... I NEED one! I'm thinking in Red but who knows.

Bold Jewelry- There is a fine line between bold and tacky. Though I love this trend it can come off wrong if not used correctly. Just pick pieces that are original and mix them up!! Just don't allow you outfit to over power the jewelry, unless you want that... then you should go with a simpler style.
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Obsessions

So I should be doing my homework but homework is boring so I am going to do this instead. Welcome to my life of procrastination. So my two new obsessions....These cute rhinestone trimmed fake Tortoise shell sun glasses I bought at H&M and the band "The Fray". The glasses are so cute and glamorously over the top. I wore them around Boston this weekend while walking around and I felt like a movie star with diamond encrusted sunglasses. They will be my new best friend this summer or now... same diff. The Fray on the other hand is so cool. I bought this CD on a whim... I had a 10$ Best Buy gift card and their CD was on sale for $9.99. I had downloaded their free song, Over My Head (Cable Car) on Itunes and liked it a while back, so I bought it. Good decision!! (For once) I love their sound. They have a piano... which I am a big fan of.... bands with pianos I mean not the interment..... Which I am still a big fan of. It makes them sound more delicate a guess. But they still have guitars (not another Keane on our hands). The only thing thin common with Keane is that they are one of VH1's artists to watch... also they might be British (another thing I am a fan of... British guys!!) But I am not sure. You can't tell by some ones singing voice whether they are British or not.... I always found that funny. The lead singers voice is still really good... he has a great range... not like most rockers who kinda stay on the same level. His voice is smooth not scratchy. I love it. I wanted to pick a song to tell you that I liked the best but I couldn't pick one... their single is Over My Head though so download that one!!! Also VH1.com might have some free stuff for listening.

So I was reading my new Elle Girl Magazine I got in the mail today... yeah I am obsessed with Fashion Magazines if you haven't found out. So I was reading this article on Prom Dresses and they said... and I quote "There are only a few occasions in your life when you always remember what you wore: Prom, Your Wedding, Getting your first Oscar etc." of course by Oscar they meant the award movie stars receive but guess what I thought they meant when I first read this (something only I, or an other fashion obsessed person would think of) When you get you First Oscar De La Renta. I have a problem. I must go now and do some homework... I need to force my brain with Algebra, Chemistry and Economics to knock some since into me
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

New Direction

Okay so i havn't written any thing in a while because i admit i got a little bored... and creeped out about a live journal kinda thing so i am going to turn over to what i really wanted this blog to be about from the beginning... my two loves... Fashion and Music. They are my world and i could talk on and on about the two.

Today at school i wore a cami style tank top (Lt Blue) over a tshirt (blue green) with a cute black leather belt around the middle. All this with black jeans and my black and pink converses. I had just gotten my Lucky Magazine in the mail and the high belt over shirt thing is everywhere and i thought it looked really cute plus i have a whole draw full of really cool vintage belts that i never know what to do with. So i gave it a try and i really liked the way it looked... the belt, (which was thick and i wore it right above my belly button) was extreamly slimming on me. So i wore it to school. I guess the rest of my school doesn't read Lucky!! I got a bunches of looks (Which i don't mind... i actually get a secret high from people checking out my outfit... it makes me more confident that it caught their eye, either in a good or bad way. I love it even more when they try to copy it!!) Two girls (seperatly) told me it was intresting...meaning they didn't like it. One of the girls i am not really friends with and if i wasn't such a nice kid i could have snaped at her. she was wearing an Aeropostle sweatshirt, jeans and Phat Farm shoes... wow she is really original (it is hard to type sarcasim)!! Don't critisize fashion risks if you are two afraid to take one yourself
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

ZzZzZzZ

I am so exausted. last night i had a crazy time. So i went to pick up my friend at 8:40 and we went on a coffee run and then to the high school to paint sets for the school play. it was so much fun... but if you know that feeling once your coffee runs out... crash and burn... thats what i am like now... like i am about to fall over. im gonna go take a nap... ta ta
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

The Year That Was

Last night.... possibly one of the WORST New Years Eve ever. It consists of Ally (my best friend) throwing up into a bucket on the couch while i watch what is possibly the worst werewolf movie ever (like there are any good ones) with her mother then leaving at 10:30 to go home (down the street) and sit on the couch and watch Thelma and Louise until after midnight eating stale chips all by my self then going to bed after taking out my contacts that were stinging like hell. How was your new years?

Well my New Years Resolution is to get a new haircut. We have had our own New Years thing since i can remember (except when i was in CA for the Rose Bowl Parade... don't ask) and for some reason this year i wasn't sure it was gonna happen but i am so i am happy. We are going to make that chex stuff with the powdered sugar and chocolate (i don't know what the scientific name is) and we are going to have a 'Pacey' marrathon. Yes as in Pacey from Dawson's Creek. No making fun... Joshua Jackson (the guy who plays Pacey) is the hottest ever and we sort of have a little girl hood obsession with him (that and Austin Obrian... the blond kid from My Girl 2). We have The Dawson's Creek season finale DVD, Cursed (the new horror flick he was in.... probaly sucks but he is cute), and Cruel intentions (he has a small role but Ryan Philippe is in it and god.. he is sexy too plus it is a good movie to make up for cursed). this whole thing was my Christmas present for her.... a kinda personal cute thing ya know.

I am in such a good mood i went CD shopping yesterday and picked up the new Death Cab for Cutie, Aqualung, Blockparty remix, and Beck CD's. The Death Cab one with my name in it...What Sarah said.... it made me cry.... that is the first time i have ever cried listening to a song. i guess i was in a emotional mood yesterday because i watched Cinderella Man that night and i cryed again. if i have a son one day.... he will definatly not be a boxer... what a violent sport... blood, spit, broken ribs and hands... not to mention that dude who killed two guys....that was a sad movie. Didn't it win some awards? Figures.... the sad ones always do... Titanic, A Beautiful Mind... i can't think of others but i bet they are sad. well i am babbling again. i have been watching Gilmore Girls for a few straight days ( i got seasons 1,2 and 4 on DVD) so i am starting to talk... or type for that matter like them... you know really really fast with lots and lots of meaning less words. there i go again... did i need two lots? probaly not!!

Well i am listening to an Imix (my new word for a playlist on ITunes) of my new CDs and drinking Sunny D.... i don't think it has any sugar but boy am i hyped! WOW... look at that 42g... no wonder kids love it!! well it is all in preperation for tonight. i am gonna stop typing know because this sugar high is gonna get me in trouble if i keep on writing... i am gonna go blogging (my old word for checking out other peoples blogs) i usually come up empty handed... i bet there are tones of cool ones out there but all i keep finding are ones in wierd languages and ones about boring stuff like finances or something.... Were are all the cool blogs at?? that sounded like a wierd oldschool rap... at least it did in my head. okay... leaving now... if you have a cool blog or know of some, please comment because i am in need!!!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Finally

School is over ( for now) and so is Christmas. i have nothing to do... it is wonderful. i have been sleeping in, painting, playing DDR (the coolest game ever) and having Sex and the City marathons. (thanks kim) it suprizes me that people actually read this stuff! but whatever. I went shopping today and blew 85 bucks at Best Buy. All on DVDs!!! and because i got over 75 dollors worth of stuff i got a free 10$ gift card... it is their promotion i guess... i was really excited. i am a bit of a movie buff and i think a good DVD is a perfect present for any one, Male or Femail, Kid or Adult. For the guys just do the new comedy classics (that is what i call them any way)... Anchor Man, Office Space, Zoo Lander, Dodgeball. All of those are the funnest movies i have seen in a while! For girls just go for a classic romantic. Or you can do what i did for my friend and give them a self-made DVD colection from a favorite Sexy actor with two or three classic titles that are just asking for a marathon party!! Today i just watched Barefoot in the park for the first time... it was so cute. I love older movies... and period ones (if you haven't seen the new Pride and Predudice go now!!) because the fashion is so inspiring. when i become a famous designer (which i will!) i can just picture my self renting old movies and creating a whole line inspired by just one!! I can't wait! well no i think i am going to put on my fav radio station (look at my links and play it online... you won't regret it!) and bake sugar cookies from a recipe i got from Allrecipes.com ( really cool site). I have to babysit from 6 to 1230 tonight so i need my sugar... preferably some coffee and Powerade aswell!!! i will try to post some pics later ... comment please ( i love it when you all do)
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Christmas Stress

ahh...so many gifts to buy i think i am going to have a melt down. i always want to get the perfect gift... i am too hard on myself. I am also trying to write my own list for my mom so her shopping is easier (and i am hard to please!)I really want a nice pair of worn brown boots (low heel cuz i am tall) to wear with all my skirts. I have 3 styles i really like... Harness, Engineer, and Roper boots. Put aside that i am money concious and really want to find a pair around 100$ but because of my size 12 feet it is really hard. I tried the mens but they all just look too masculine. I swear when i have my own footwear line someday.... we are going up to size 12!!

School was alright today, My film didn't come out from my photography class so i have to re-shoot the roll which is a bummer but i like using the schools camera (it has a huge zoom on it) so basicly for the rest of the day, whenever i saw a possible picture i just stopped where i was and took it... it was fun... one kid ran into me. I also started my painting (see last post) and it already looks really cool. I have a concert tommorow also... it is a big deal... with the chior, orchestra, and Symphonic Band (which i am in).. i am excited because i have a mini oboe solo-soli kinda deal! im gonna go find my boots! :)
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Good News

I got my first comment. i don't no when but i just found out!! Alright... so i really don't have anything against those store's clothes (except that i don't own ANYTHING from any of them) because some of their clothes can be kinda cute but people need to use these popular chain stores IN MODERATION!!!! That is one of my biggest pet peves... head to toe american eagle or whatever. Now other chair stores like Gap and H&M you can were head to toe... with the right accecories ofcourse. the problem with all those preppy chains is that they are made up primarly of fake vintage (i think it is really tacky to fake vintage) and because these stores are so popular, multiple people usually end up wearing the same stuff on the same day (something i HATE!) and with fake vintage shirts like that (by fake vintage i mean those shirts that usually advertize wierd events like non-existint sunbathing competions on them that contain imature sexual refrences hidden in the writing) it is really noticable. with stores like Gap and H&M (also stores like Urban Outfitters but we don't have that near us :( !!!), they don't have alot of fake vintage (a bit but it isn't as bad) and most of their clothes are a bit more basic (more for Gap than H&M) so if you accidentaly wear something on the same day someone else does it isn't such a big deal. Also... my trick to never looking the same as everyone else.... Layers and Accesories. I layer EVERYTHING! all my fav. shirts and tanks from this summer can be placed over other shirts for a cute look no one else will have. i like Gap because they basicly have every color and every style or Tshirt and long sleeve shirt. Stock up on those, get some cute stuff from H&M, layer and you are good to go! Accesories really make an outfit but there is (sometimes) a such thing as too much. First you need to get a good original collection going on. I get most of my jewelry at Clares or some place like that... those are my trend places.... i get cute stuff that will go out of style in a few months so i don't lose a lot of money. for classic Jewelry... you have to options i like to call the 2 I's. 1) Invest. these babies last a while so it is worth the extra cash. i have a sterling silver charm bracelet and a Tiffany heart bracelet. Both are adorable and i can wear them forever 2) Inheret. alright you don't need to have someone die in the family to score some nice jewelry. most of my jewelry is from my grandmothers, my mom, and my aunts. i have 3 sets of pearls, two fresh water and one is ivory plus a strand of tiger eye and alot of other cool vintage bracelets, purses and scarves that you can't even buy today. so if you and your grandma are on good terms, show alittle intreast in the jewels and see what she doesn't need or wear anymore. Mix all these pieces and lots of cute basics and you got a great wardrobe! if only the other people in my school knew that!!! i have been rambling again... i would love some feedback if anyone reads this, expecially if you can relate!!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Proof I Know How to Sew

1. 2.
3.
4.

5.

6.

so... if you read my bio you might know i like fashion and want to be a designer... handbag designer more specifically (at least that is what i am dabbling in now) i now a lot a people SAY they want to be fashion designers and can't draw or sew a stich. i just wanted to prove i wasn't one of those girls, here are a few purses i made... some are original designs and some are based off other bags i have seen in magazines or in stores. most are made up of materials i had around the house or scraps from my grandmother who also sews. i am pretty money conscious so i don't like to spend tones on fabric (or patterns... i don't like patterns). so here are my explanations...

1. this bag, i call it my breast cancer bag just because it has pink lining and a breast cancer ribbon on it that i got for free at the mall the day after i made it, but really that has nothing to do with it. it was inspired by my FAVORITE bag, an adorable brown tweed hobo bag that i bought at old navy for really cheap. i wore it everywhere and i wanted to make a second. this was actually for my Clothing Design class at school, sophomore year. My teacher was a little uptight about using patterns so i had to analyze my tweed bag front and back and create a pattern identical to the kind you by in the store (envelope, picture, fabric suggestions, tissue paper.. the whole shabang) in order to get credit for it. so after i made the pattern me and my friend April (who wanted to make it too) went and actually bought the fabric (the only one on the list i actually bought fabric for). i got black denim and (fake) pink silk lining and she got a maroon tweed and maroon lining. they both came out really cute and i got an A in the class.

2. This is a bigger bag then i usually do ( i like small totes and hobo bags mostly) because it was meant to be a book bag. i actually made it from a really tacky old jean jacket and some yellow fabric i had lying around. all the stiching that was on the jacket looks really cute on the bag and the strap is from the bottom of the jacket.

3. this one is really cute. it is a nice floral pattern that i already had with a vinyl yellow lining and strap. i like this one because it is one of the first bags i ever put a zipper on... its pink and looks really cool against the yellow.

4. this one is Actualy made of bubble wrap! one of my more inventive pieces. i had some left over... this was around last Christmas when all the packages were coming in. i did two layers and faced the popping sides to eachother so they wouldn't all pop and lose the effect. i used pink tread in a zig-zag stitch and it really looks cool. i also added a cute bow from some ribbon i had to make it a little more stuctured and feminine

5. this one is based off one i saw in a magazine... it is pretty popular... i have seen it in about 3 magazines but i originally saw it in Lucky for about 60 bucks. i cut out the picture and made it from some scraps of fabric. it was really hard to do cuz i had to do a satin stich around all the separate butterfly parts but it is one of my favorites.

6. this one i made a week ago. i was in the attic tooking for a book or something and i found my moms old dining room curtains which were this big floral print... a little tacky for drapery but for a cute bag it was perfect. i ruffled it and added a strap and it looks pretty cute... i think.

well i hope you all like them... if any one reads this. -S
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Christmas is in the air!!

ahh... after thanksgiving comes......???..... an insperation! i will add then to my links! of course in new york cool shit happens but in NH uhh... nothing unless you want to hear about stupid hallway gossip which can get really gay after a while. When i was in New York this summer it was a riot... tones of awesome stuff happened to me every day. I was given flowers by a homeless guy in virgin records, some 40 yr old guy in times square told me i looked like JLo (which i really don't), i got to listen to a pretty sweet gangster barbershop quartet on the subway, and a random dude on the street asked me if i had a fake id after i told him i wasn't old enough to get into his wierd hip-hop club he was promoting. you see i was only there like 3 weeks... imagine if i lived there full time! boy oh golly what fun that would be! maybe when school starts again on mon. after 5 days off and a hellova lot of snow i will have something interesting to blab about... but till then read about these cool NY peoples lives... far more intresting!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Instead...

So... i skipped the parade and went to the mall to look for jobs to help pay for my expensive shopping habit. I only applyed to Old Navy and Build-a-Bear. It sucks because all the good jobs require you to be over 18 which i am not so i get stuck with these. I don't mind Old Navy... their accesories are cute and i like Build-a-Bear because i like little kids plus my best friend works there. i can't wait till i have money... i need some cashmere... yummy! i am looking online for watches. i lost my cute Kenneth Cole one that i bought this summer and i need a new one. i was looking at Paul Frank but scence i am a loser and have trouble reading any non digital clock i am looking at a cute retro plastic one. if anyone has any cute brand ideas for a cheap skate like me send a comment!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.

Purpose

alright... The purpose of my glorious blog. um i don't know. Before i decided to pursue a career in fashion I was extremely interested (and I still am) in fashion magazines. Now this is my magazine I guess yet I can talk about whatever the hell I want and probaly no one will read it!! woo hoo! well any way... the basic writings of this blog will be about fashion, movies, music, tv, things going on in my life, random therorys and comments about things etc etc. so if you happen to come across this baby... read a little bit, post a comment, or check out my AWESOME links, which i would like to talk about now. alright... i just want to explain the unselfexplanitory. FNX... the best radio station in the world. They have a button you can press on there website were you can listen to the station online so if you are in to the alternative music scene then check this out! Get Lippy is this weird... i think british website about fashion and famous people and pop culture. it is really cute. then there is P the Giraffe... my good friends brothers website. he makes all these cool movies about giraffes being killed... its actually hilarious! and the FIT (Fashion Institute of technology) is the school i am thinking about attending (i actually went there this summer for their summer live program). its wicked (very new england word there) awesome. so that's about it... i will add more later and maybe a list of cool blogs i like reading!! i have to go to a parade now because i am in a (gag!) Marching Band. No making fun please. I am Sarah, a New Hampshire princess dreaming of New York fashion stardom. I have a bold style that stands out from the preppy fashion clones of my high school (who still think Ugg boots are the coolest). With all this similarity around me I need a place to vent. As I approach the middle of Junior year and college/escape is growing closer I strive for something different. So all of you who are in a similar situation to me DON'T GIVE IN!! Embrace your uniqueness and show all those losers what cool really is!
<3 FashionOutcast -- It's cool to break the mold.
